M5.4 Earthquake Strikes north of Tokyo
A moderate magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck north of Tokyo, Japan at 8:23 AM Eastern US Time today, rattling homes and skyscrapers in Japan's largest city.
No damage or injuries are reported.
Last month, a similar magnitude earthquake in Japan's southern Island of Kyushu, turned out to be a fore-shock of a much larger magnitude 7.4 quake, with numerous large aftershocks. Damage, injuries and numerous deaths were attributed to that larger quake, and the area is still digging-out debris and recovering bodies almost a full month later.
This recent event in Kyushu has folks in Tokyo and the rest of the largest Island of Japan, more than a little nervous.
